Abstract

By 1 Dec. 2013, all applicators of pesticides or individuals who work for companies that have Hazard Communication Plans as required by OSHA were required to be trained in the new Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). Many companies and applicators were simply not aware of the training requirement, how to become trained, and to what extent. The GHS Labeling presentation was created by the University of Florida Pesticide Information Office to help Extension Agents across the state of Florida fill that need in both the urban and agricultural industries. The presentation can either be given by the Extension Agent or can be viewed as an articulated presentation and are available through the Pesticide Information Office website.
