Abstract

Two field tests were performed to determine relative uptake of Temik 15G (aldicarb) by placing it at two distances from the trunk of orange trees using commercial application equipment. In the first test, utilizing citrus rust mite, Phyllocoptruta oleivora (Ashmead) control as a bioassay, treatments that placed 16.5 lb/acre of Temik 15G in a 14 inch band width at the drip line broke down several weeks before treatments where the same rate was placed as close to the tree trunk as was practicable. In the second test, both 33 lb/acre and 20 lb/ acre rates placed in a 28 inch wide band as close to the tree trunk as practicable produced longer CRM control, higher yields and increased flush compared to a 20 lb/acre rate in the same width band centered on the drip line.
