Symposium on Agroacoustics: A Sound-Insulated Room Suitable for Use with an Acoustic Insect Detection System and Design Parameters for a Grain Sample Holding Container
Abstract
A small, easily constructed sound-insulated room suitable for use in acoustic detection of insect larvae in stored commodities is described. Sound measurements are presented to quantitate the reduction of exogenous noise. The directionality of the acoustical detector used for detection of Sitophilus oryzae larvae feeding inside kernels of grain was determined. "Dead spots" were located and suggestions for the design of a sample holder are given which will minimize this problem.Downloads
