Larva and Pupa of Oxyethira Leonensis (Trichoptera: Hydroptilidae)
Abstract
The first positively associated larva and pupa of Oxyethira leonensis Kelley are described. Also given are characteristics to distinguish the final instar larva of O. leonensis from that of the previously described North American species, O. dualis Morton. Oxyethira dualis has middle and hind legs nearly 3 times as long as the fore leg and a mean length greater than 3.10 mm; O. leonensis has middle and hind legs nearly 4 times as long as the fore leg and a mean length of 2-3 mm. Oxyethira leonensis is a piercer-herbivore known to occur in Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama.Downloads
