Abstract

The genus Americhernes is defined, with Chelifer oblongus Say, from eastern United States, as the type species. Also placed in the genus are: Lamprochernes ellipticus Hoff, from Baja California, Mexico; Lamprochernes levipalpus Muchmore, from Utah; Americhernes longimanus, new species, from Florida and the Gulf Coast; A. reductus, new species, from the Florida Keys; and A. puertoricensis, new species, from Puerto Rico. The relationships between this and allied genera are discussed briefly.
