Duvall Journal

About the Journal

The Duvall Journal of Family and Community Health is a free, open-access, peer-reviewed journal hosted by the Evelyn Duvall Endowed Chair at the University of South Florida. Each issue is published annually and features a special theme, highlighting innovative approaches and applied research related to family and community health.

The 2025-2026 special theme isĀ "The impact of substance misuse and addiction on families and community health".

This inaugural issue highlights the complex and far-reaching effects of substance misuse and addiction on families, communities, and health systems. We seek original articles that examine innovative prevention strategies, community-based interventions, policy analyses, recovery supports, and systems-level approaches. Submissions should emphasize applied, interdisciplinary research that advances understanding and informs practice, with a focus on preventing misuse and early initiation, promoting resilience, reducing harm, and improving health outcomes related to addiction.

We believe that compensating reviewers supports equitable participation in scholarship and reflects our values as a community-engaged and practitioner-informed journal.

The Duvall Journal only accepts annual submissions from May 1 - September 1, or until 20 submissions have been received per special issue.
