Abstract

This article provides an overview of the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Department at West Virginia University. First, a historical perspective that spans a hundred years is provided. Then, current faculty and their research interests are described. Next, the unique aspects of undergraduate and graduate programs are explained. Finally, recent changes in the department as a result of structural changes at the university level are described.

Srinivas Palanki, West Virginia University, United States

Srinivas Palanki, PhD, is a Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at West Virginia University. His research interests are in process design and optimization for commodity chemicals manufacturing, and in healthcare data analytics. He has been involved in developing strong research-based academic programs in four different state universities. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and his MS and PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  ORCID:   0000-0002-6016-4619
