Building the EC 2000 Environment

Abstract

Special section on "ABET Engineering Criteria 2000".

Accreditation of U.S. Engineering programs according to ABET EC 2000 is imminent.  This article relates the experiences of a college's efforts to streamline its preparation for an EC 2000 site visit.  Two topics specifically examined are constituency "buy-in" and closing of the improvement loop.

Author Biography

Daina Briedis, Michigan State University

Daina Briedis is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University. She received her PhD in chemical engineering at Iowa State University and her BS in engineering science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has served as a chemical engineering program evaluator of ABET for over ten years and is a member of both the Education and Accreditation Committee of AIChE and the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
