Abstract

The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at The Ohio State University in collaboration with the University Center for the Advancement of Teaching developed the Chemical Engineering Mentored Teaching Experience. The Mentored Teaching Experience is an elective for Ph.D. students interested in pursuing faculty careers. Participants are exposed to ideas on teaching through completion of an online course; are paired with a faculty mentor with whom they develop two to three lessons along with the associated active learning activities, assignments, and assessments; and take these lessons into the engineering classroom in order to gain real life teaching experience.
