This study explores barriers to mental healthcare access among homeless individuals using ethnographic methods, including interviews and participant observation at a local shelter and free clinic. By exploring themes such as environmental instability, substance use, stigma, and systemic resource limitations, this research provides a more contextualized understanding of the challenges faced by homeless individuals with mental illness (MI). Findings from this study will contribute to discussions on improving psychiatric care accessibility and developing more targeted community interventions.
