Abstract

Dental resin composites are extensively utilized in restorative dentistry for cavity restorations, direct and indirect restorations, and esthetic contouring. Ideally, these materials should exhibit coefficients of thermal expansion similar to those of dentin and enamel to ensure a durable adhesive bond to tooth structures, particularly during significant temperature fluctuations. Discrepancies in mechanical properties, such as compressive and shear strengths between dental composites and natural tooth tissues, can lead to complications like secondary caries and tooth fractures. This study evaluates the two-body wear resistance of various dental composites against an antagonist material simulating occlusal contact.
