AbstractThis article provides a brief examination of our first amendment right of free speech within the context of our current digital age. The article looks at recent United States court cases and their handling of these new issues. Specifically, this research article analyses a recent 2013 Fourth Circuit Court of appeals case, Bobby Bland v. B. J. Roberts, which tackles the issue of whether or not clicking the “like” button on Facebook constitutes speech and thus, warrants protection.
