Abstract

As consumerism teaches: when demand goes up, so should supply. Likewise it is true for the refugee crisis internationally. As the number of refugees are increasing, so should the number of countries supporting these refugees. That is why, when leading countries refuse to help, it makes a dramatic impact on the international community. Policies such as the infamous “travel ban” as well as the decrease in numbers of refugee admitted into the country will create a negative ripple effect in the international community. This article will explore the refugee crisis and its history and will continue with policies created to support them. A comparative look highlights how other nations handle the refugees. This article will also emphasize the need for the U.S. to respond to the refuge crisis as global leaders.
